• $3,256 a month • -Harris County Public Library Lone Star College/Tomball Community Library, Northwest Harris County • Tomball, TX Responsible for identifying and interpreting user needs; planning and implementing a variety of programs for children to encourage library usage and to foster community relations; providing reference and readers' advisory; and assisting Library patrons in the use of library services, facilities, and equipment. Job Responsibilities Exhibits the high standards and expectations for the joint college/community library in its daily operations and services Implements and interprets library policies and procedures for library users and staff Plans and coordinates children's services and programs Plans and implements special summer reading program including puppet shows, printed material, and special events Provides reader's advisory and reference services Develops a highly-visible public relations program for children's services in the community, including schools and other organizations Organizes and coordinates summer youth volunteer program Attends monthly children's librarians meetings Maintains a current awareness of children's literature and services Identifies curriculum needs in the community; plans and provides services to meet these needs May direct the work of Library Specialists and/or Library Technicians Attends professional conferences, activities, and staff meetings and actively serves on committees Maintains an awareness of professional trends, methods, and ethics Performs other duties as assigned Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer https://hrrm.harriscountytx.gov/Pages/EqualEmploymentOpportunityPlan.aspx Requirements • Masters of Library Science degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited school OR Masters of Library Science from an AASL accredited programwith 2 years of verifiable work experience in a public library Additional Requirements Good communication skills (written & verbal) Ability to organize work priorities Ability to work well with the public and library staff Physical ability to perform the above responsibilities NOTE:Qualifying education, experience, knowledge and skills must be documented on your job application.
